St Hilda's Topping Out Ceremony marks reaching the highest point in our new building
Our Topping Out ceremony, held in the Kirby Observation Room at the top of the new tower, marked an important milestone in our building project. We have reached the point that will be the highest accessible level of St Hilda's new building. Those who have worked with us to bring the project from concept to reality joined us at the ceremony on 12 November to admire the views from what will be our roof-terrace garden by Autumn 2020.
The Principal - Professor Sir Gordon Duff, Vice-Principal - Professor Julia Yeomans, Bursar – Frank Gargent, Head of Buildings & Projects – Neil Hyatt, Development Director – Bronwyn Travers, Domestic Bursar – Gerri Cane, Communications Manager - Claire Harvey, Projects Coordinator – Sarah Luke, MCR President – Amanda Lyons, JCR President - Georgina Findlay, Architect - Jay Gort, Chairman of Beard Ltd - Mark Beard, Director Beard - Dean Averies, Beard Contract Manager - Steve Lambourne, Beard Project Manager - Peter Beilby, Beard Senior Quantity Surveyor - Adam Smith, Structural Engineer - Mark Harris and Client Project Manager - Gary Newport toasted our progress so far and thanked all who have supported the building project. Marker pens were shared and they inscribed their names and messages for posterity on St Hilda's entrance tower wall before it is covered in the next stage of construction.
We thank everyone who has worked so hard on this building project, which will transform St Hilda's site. Find out more here about how the project has developed and what it will mean for our College.
