SciPo 2019: Plants, Brain and Imagination
Now in its fourth year, SciPo is a meeting of Science and Poetry. The theme of SciPo 2019 is 'Plants, Brain and Imagination'. The event is supported by St Hilda's College Research Committee, and this year by a New Network award from TORCH, The Oxford Centre for Research in the Humanities. You can download the programme here.
In 2019, there will be an associated under-18s Poetry Competition on the topic of 'Eating Plants', judged by Carrie Etter. There will also be a poetry competition for adults on the SciPo 2019 theme, 'Plants, Brain and Imagination', judged by Jane Draycott. There will be three prize winners in each category. All prize winners will be invited to read their poems at SciPo 2019.
SciPo was founded as an annual event on the creative common ground between science and poetry by Jenny Lewis of The Poet's House, Oxford, and Sarah Watkinson, Emeritus Fellow and former Tutor in Biology at St Hilda's, in 2016. This year, it is organised by Elsa Hammond, College Lecturer in English, and Sarah Watkinson. Next year, it will be organised by Jenny Lewis and Sarah Watkinson. SciPo is supported by the College Research Committee and Oxford University TORCH under its New Networks scheme
