DANSOX: Choreographing the Katabasis: A danced translation of Homer's Odyssey
What happened at the event
From 1 June - 5 June, choreographer Cathy Marston was artist-in-residence at St Hilda's College, working with Tom Sapsford and professional dancers on a project entitled 'Choreographing the Katabasis'. The project explored how the mythical content of Odysseus' visit to the underworld (thekatabasis) in Odyssey Book 11, as well as its dactylic hexameter metrical form, can be translated into the medium of dance. The project culminated with a Lecture-Demonstration on Friday 5 June 2015.
