Burns Night celebrations at St Hilda's followed the Sue Lloyds-Roberts Memorial Lecture for 2020

30th January 2020

This annual lecture series was established in honour of our alumna, Sue Lloyd-Roberts, an award-winning broadcast journalist whose uncompromising and courageous documentaries highlighted humanitarian issues across the world. This year we welcomed author and broadcaster, Carrie Gracie, as our speaker.

After the inspiring lecture, 'Our Woman in China: One Big Story Through The Female Lens', we held a a fundraising Burns Night Supper. The proceeds go to the Sue Lloyd-Roberts Fund, which supports St Hilda's students who wish to explore careers in the media. Celebrations were led by our Principal, Professor Sir Gordon Duff, and Honorary Fellow, Dr Val McDermid, as the piper invited our guests to process to dinner in South Building where actor Stuart Bowman dramatically addressed the haggis.
