Our Grounds

Following the completion of our new Anniversary Building and Pavilion, we are redesigning St Hilda's gardens to embed the buildings in the distinctive green space of our riverside setting. St Hilda’s has one of the most beautiful settings in Oxford. Our buildings and gardens stretch along the river Cherwell, which flows under nearby Magdalen Bridge. From the lawns, you can enjoy beautiful views of Oxford’s dreaming spires. Our grounds have a hallowed history stretching back to the Middle Ages, when Edmund Rich, the first Oxford Don to be made a saint, used to wander through Cowley fields.

Take a virtual stroll through our gardens, look closer with our photo gallery, or watch a summer wedding video.

In early 2021, we were delighted to complete our riverside new Pavillion and Anniversary Building with rooftop garden offering wonderful views of Oxford's skyline. Find out more about how we have transformed St Hilda's site.
